RIBERA DEL DUERO

When it comes to top quality Spanish winemaking real estate it doesn’t come much better than the one hundred and thirteen hectares of pristine vineyards of Hacienda Monasterio, which straddle the near legendary viticultural areas of Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero.

At the winemaking helm is Bordeaux University oenology graduate Peter Sisseck creator of Dominio de Pingus rated by Robert Parker as ‘…one of the greatest red wines I have ever tasted.” With winemaking time also served at many top-flight Bordeaux estates, plus a spell as head winemaker at Simi Winery in California, he is now widely regarded as one of the world’s finest red winemakers. At Hacienda Monasterio, winemaker Carlos de la Fuente ably assists Sisseck.

To put the finishing touch to their extraordinary wines current owners keen to take full advantage of their prime viticultural location spared no expense in securing the services of French architect Philippe Mazières (renowned for designing the prestigious and much envied cellars at Château Margaux) to design their state-of-the-art maturation halls.
