LOCATION:

The production area covers the traditional vine – growing Catalonian regions, and practically coincides with the current DOs present in Catalonia plus a few municipal areas with vine – growing vocation.

CLIMATE AND SOIL:

Depending on the location of the vineyard, the same as those of the Catalonian DO’s, whose characteristics are defined in this guide. See Alella, Empordà, Conca de Barberà, Costers del Segre, Montsant, Penedès, Pla de Bages, Priorat, Tarragona and Terra Alta.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

White:

Recommended: Chardonnay, Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Muscat, Parellada, ­Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Xarel·lo.

Authorized: Gewürztraminer, Subirat Parent (Malvasía), Malvasía de Sitges, Picapoll,  Pedro Ximénez, Chenin, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc

Red:

Recommended: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Garnacha Peluda, Merlot, Monastrell, Pinot Noir, Samsó (Cariñena), Trepat, Sumoll and Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo).

Authorized: Garnacha Tintorera and Syrah.
