In the province of Tarragona. It is made up of the municipal districts of La Morera de Montsant, Scala Dei, La Vilella, Gratallops, Bellmunt, Porrera, Poboleda, Torroja, Lloá, Falset and Mola.


Although with Mediterranean influences, it is temperate and dry. One of the most important characteristics is the practical absence of rain during the summer, which ensures very healthy grapes. The average rainfall is between 500 and 600 mm per year.


This is probably the most distinctive characteristic of the region and precisely what has catapulted it to the top positions in terms of quality, not only in Spain, but around the world. The soil, thin and volcanic, is composed of small pieces of slate (llicorella), which give the wines a markedly mineral character. The vineyards are located on terraces and very steep slopes.


White: Chenin Blanc, Macabeo, Garnacha Blanca, Pedro Ximénez.

Red: Cariñena, Garnacha, Garnacha Peluda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah.
Bajo Penedès. This is the closest region to the sea, with a lower altitude and wines with a markedly Mediterranean character.
