LOCATION:The DO Valencia has a total of 13,000 hectares of vineyards along their four subzones (Alto Turia, Moscatel, Valentino, and Clariano ). The excellent geographical location and the warm climate make an excellent place for red wines –which boast the most intense color from the Eastern part of SpainCLIMATE:

The coastal vineyards have a Mediterranean climate but the majority which are further inland have a mild continental climate (long, hot dry summers and cold winters). Temperatures can vary up to 30°C on a daily basis. Maximum temperature in summer can reach over 40°C and in winter drop to -5°C

SOIL:

In general, the subsoils vary from fluvial type at low altitudes, to lime bearing at the higher altitudes, and sandy type at the intermediate altitudes. They are generally soils from the Miocene and the Quaternary period, very permeable and therefore do not give rise to drainage problems.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

White: Chardonnay, Macabeo, Malvasía, Merseguera, Moscatel, Verdil.

Red: Bobal, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Monastrell, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Tintorera.

SUB-REGIONS:

Alto Turia: is located to the west of Valentino at a height of between 700 m and 1,100 m above sea level and is characterised by its sandy soils.

Valentino: Located to the northwest. The vineyard is grown between 200 and 650 meters. Grape varieties can be found Merseguera, Macabeo or Planta Fina among the most common white varieties, until the latest additions such as Semillon and Chardonnay. Among the red varieties include Tintorera,  Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon . The diversity of soil and climate in this area provides a great variety of wines.

Moscatel de Valencia: The Moscatel sub-zone is located at the western boundary of the city of Valencia and the vineyards rise from sea level to an altitude of 100 m. Warm and sunny weather, influenced by the Mediterranean sea breeze.

Clariano:  is to the south, further away from the other three sub-zones, comprises the districts of La Vall d’Albaida and La Costera
